My Favorite Blogging Memory

One of my favorite blogging memories ever is one that I actually have never officially “blogged” about, but it’s a memory that I will not soon forget! I was feeling nostalgic and decided to look back through photos of this time of year 6 years ago when my mom and I flew to New York City for a pinch-me opportunity with… J. Crew! Gosh I have such special memories from this trip and I find myself talking and thinking about it each year around this time. I figured, why not put together some photos to look back onto?

The backstory: In early 2018, I won a J. Crew photo contest on Instagram that led to the opportunity to partner with them on a few campaigns throughout that year, which was super exciting in and of itself. However, the biggest opportunity that came out of winning that contest is that it put me on J. Crew’s radar to be invited to take place in the #MeetMyCrew “Friends of J. Crew” holiday campaign with several other bloggers/photographers where we would fly to NYC to J. Crew headquarters to be styled in holiday looks, photographed, and interviewed on camera for a video segment that would later be aired on their website.

It’s difficult to put into words how exciting and exhilarating this experience was! It was a true behind-the-scenes experience of all that goes into to a J. Crew photoshoot – from the fitting the day before the shoot, to getting hair and makeup done, and getting styled by J. Crew stylists – it truly felt surreal. The photo shoot itself was one of my favorite parts – my mom got to jump in for a few shots which made it extra special! The video segment where they interviewed us took a couple of hours to complete and was so much fun, but also nerve-wracking (in the best way!).

The trip was a whirlwind three days and two nights, but we took advantage of every moment in the city and managed to pack in a lot of sightseeing and shopping in our short time there. We stayed in the Meatpacking District at the Maritime hotel. I hadn’t spent much time in that area prior to this trip, so it was fun to explore a new-to-us area of the city.

While I sometimes get shy talking about my blog with others, it really has given me so many fun opportunities to work with brands I love and to connect with others who have a similar love for fashion. This trip and opportunity to partner with J. Crew was absolutely a highlight and one that I will never forget!
I wrote about our trip to NYC back in 2018, but at the time, wasn’t able to share what the trip was about. You can check those posts out here and here if you’d like!

Thank you for reading!
