With less than two months until our big day, we are in full wedding planning mode! The last few months have flown by – I guess that’s normal when you’re engaged and planning a wedding?
I’m just now getting around to sharing some our engagement photos that we shot with Rachel Red Photography. When Rachel asked us where we wanted to shoot, downtown Charleston was a no-brainer! Not only is the setting absolutely beautiful no matter what street, I also lived in the historic downtown area for several years, and that’s right when Michael and I started dating. We have lots of great memories spent downtown from the early days in our relationship.
Our second location was planned to be at the beach at Sullivan’s Island, but we decided against that idea once we saw the weather forecast for the day – it was very cold (by our standards) and very windy! We’re glad we stayed downtown as it gave us plenty of time to walk around different streets for various backdrops for the photos.
We knew we wanted to include Beau in our photos (how could we not?!). It was pretty funny trying to get him to cooperate and pose, but Rachel was a huge help with this and the photos with him in it turned out so good!
Speaking of Rachel, she was so much fun to work with! She made us feel so comfortable, and she has such a great eye for beautiful lighting and backdrops! We cannot wait to have her photograph our wedding in June.
It was difficult deciding what to wear… it was early February when these photos were taken, but I knew that these photos would be used for our Save-the-Dates that would go out in early March. Therefore, I wanted it to feel more spring-like! Since downtown Charleston is so colorful, I went with a white dress and my favorite new Loeffler Randall heels for one of the looks. This is the dress that you probably have seen on a ton of bloggers… its great quality at such a great price point, and comes in lots of colorways! I personally own it in three colors now and love it.
My second outfit was more casual – jeans and a white top. I saw this top online at Verishop and thought it would be perfect for me, since peplum styles are usually flattering! I also loved the sleeves. You can’t tell from these photos, but the top has an open back, too – I love it! I paired it with the same heels and a pair of skinny jeans. This look was much more “me” and it felt so comfortable to change into it after freezing in the dress for an hour 🙂
(A quick shoutout to Verishop: when I ordered this top, the earliest shipping timeframe had it possibly arriving to me a day after our photos were supposed to be taken. I emailed the Verishop team to see if I could possibly pay to expedite it at my cost. They took care of making sure it arrived to me on time at no extra cost. It was a great customer service experience!)
All in all, we are so happy with our photos! This was such a fun day, and we will always treasure the photos from it.
Happy weekend!
