Fall Layers

Fall/Winter in the lowcountry is all about wearing layers. My Fall/Winter wardrobe is not as robust as my Spring/Summer wardrobe (likely because I am a sundress and sandals kind of girl!), but this Fall, I’ve really been embracing dressing for the cooler temperatures. I’ve recently been shopping for pieces that are easy to layer and build upon in my wardrobe, and the outfit I’m featuring today is a great example of how I like to dress for transitional weather!

I’ve been gravitating towards maxi skirts paired with a fitted turtleneck or top at the moment. I love that this gives you two pieces in your wardrobe to mix and match with other items! My skirt and top were both great finds at a local store in Charleston – Copper Penny – but can also be purchased online. I really love the sleeveless mock neck shell which makes it easy to add a jacket over in cooler weather.

Depending on the temperature, I really love a tall boot. The leather ones I’m wearing here may be an all-time favorite pair for me – they are a splurge but are the kind of pair that will be in your closet for a lifetime (and the designer, Loeffler Randall, just opened a beautiful brand new store in downtown Charleston on King Street!)

Wearing tall boots always makes me feel cozier and warmer than booties or flats, and I think it’s such a chic and sophisticated look when paired with a skirt or dress.

For outerwear, I’ve been on the hunt for shorter jackets and coats after realizing much of my closet consists of longer options. I found this one from Hill House and the neutral color and fit has made it easy to pair this with many items in my wardrobe. Also, how pretty are the buttons and the collar?

These photos were taken at the exact spot where my husband and I were married a little over two years ago! It was fun being back there with our sweet little guy over the Thanksgiving holiday, and of course, the backdrop was beautiful for photos so I had to take advantage.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

I find this time of year difficult to put outfits together, but you made it look so easy in this post! I love the layers, and the skirt is incredible with the boots. Love it all!
