We are so fortunate in Charleston to have many beautiful parks to enjoy year-round, and most of our favorites are located in downtown Charleston. If you live in Charleston or visit often, you are sure to know of these popular places. If you have never visited the Holy City before, put these on your list of places to visit during your stay!

White Point Gardens – 2 Murray Blvd, Charleston, SC 29401: One of my favorite parks, this one is situated on the southeastern tip of the Charleston peninsula along the battery. It offers beautiful views of Fort Sumter and the Charleston harbor. I still have memories of this park from when I visited as a child – it really is a special place! The park is filled with large live oak trees, so it makes a beautiful backdrop for photos (the photos above were taken there!), and the perfect place to take a picnic lunch. During the spring, beautiful azaleas line this park along the South Battery St side of the park.

Hampton Park – 30 Mary Murray Drive, Charleston, SC 29403: Hampton Park may be one of the most well-known parks in Charleston, due to it’s size (60 acres) and the extensive floral displays it offers. The park features a beautiful old rose collection, and the camellias attract many visitors when in bloom in late winter/early spring. We love bringing Beau to this park to walk – there are endless trails, a beautiful pond, and something new to see during each visit.

Colonial Lake – Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401: One of the most popular parks for recreation is the park at Colonial Lake. A large lake located on the south side of the peninsula, this park is perfect for walking/jogging, fishing, or relaxing and enjoying the fresh air on one of it’s many benches. This park recently underwent a complete renovation, and the new landscaping is stunning. Check out the palm trees wrapped with roses in May – it is a sight to see!
