Mountain Getaway

My family and I spent a long weekend in the mountains of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and I couldn’t wait to share more about the log cabin we stayed in! My dad did most of the planning for this trip, and he was the one who stumbled upon this cabin rental – “Bear Lodge” – on VRBO. It truly lived up to our expectations, and as you can see from the photos, was the quintessential mountain home.

The home is around 4500 square feet and sleeps twelve comfortably. It has 5 bathrooms, which was important for our crowd, as our group consisted of four families. The huge great room had cathedral ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and looks out onto mountain views of Grandfather Mountain.

Blowing Rock is about 5 hours from Charleston, and has an adorable downtown area with shops, restaurants, and parks. We had two great dinners out – one at Twigs, and one at Bistro Roca (our favorite!). We were hoping for snow the entire time, and ended up with a light dusting on the last day. It was a great way to end the trip!
