Summer is in full swing, and with this season comes many occasions to gather with friends and family.
It’s always a good idea to bring a small surcee or gift for your host/hostess to thank them for their hospitality, whether that is a bottle of wine, something edible, or a thoughtful item for their home!
I’ve curated a list of my favorite gifts to give below, with most items falling under $50 and many coming from small businesses:
Weezie Personalizable Kitchen Towels
My favorite brand for towels just came out with a new product line – elevated kitchen towels offering endless personalization opportunities in three different colorways. These towels have the cutest scalloped edges and would be perfect to give as a housewarming or hostess gift!
Haint Blue Citronella Candle by Charleston Candle Co
Porches painted haint blue are a long-honored tradition in Charleston and the lowcountry, a color which is thought to ward off evil spirits or ghosts. In similar fashion, this Haint Blue Citronella Candle is made to ward off mosquitoes and other pests. This is a unique gift and perfect for someone who lives in (or loves) Charleston.
Host Cookbook
I don’t think there is a cookbook with a name better suited for gifting. Host is a modern guide to eating, drinking, and entertaining, and is filled with recipes that your host will be sure to want to incorporate into future gatherings. This book can be found online via The Neighborhood Shoppe (another local Charleston shop!).
Red Clay Hot Sauce
A fantastic gift idea for a foodie or someone that loves to cook! I love that Red Clay Hot Sauce was founded by a local Charleston resident. Their hot sauce is the perfect complement to so many dishes… and cocktails!
Abaco Serving Set
There are so many pieces from Amanda Lindroth‘s shop that would be perfect to give as a housewarming or hostess gift. The Abaco Serving Set serving set caught my eye. This stainless steel set wrapped in rattan makes for the perfect addition to any kitchen!
Shell Placeholder Set of 4
A beautiful way to greet dinner guests – these shell placeholders are perfect for a coastal home and are a wonderful hostess gift idea.
Coconut Lotion & Handsoap Set with Brush
This pretty coconut sugar-scented set is both beautiful and functional. The set comes complete with a ceramic tray stamped with the quote “the world is your oyster”. Would be perfect to display in a powder room!
Summer House Blanket
A beautiful summer-weight cotton throw blanket that doubles as a beach or picnic blanket.
Le Creuset Oil & Vinegar Cruet Set
Anyone is sure to love a piece from Le Creuset, and this oil & vinegar set is at a great price point and makes for a pretty yet functional gift idea. Offered in 12 colors – I especially love this “ocean” colorway.
Etu Home Mini Charcuterie Board
Etu Home is my favorite source for charcuterie boards. This mini-version makes the perfect hostess gift, and comes in several beautiful colors. Handcrafted with pinewood and finished with a 100% plant-based food safe wax, these are beautiful to serve from at any gathering.
Match Cloche
Functional and display-worthy, a match cloche is a great gift for someone that has it all. This one is made of handblown glass in the prettiest shade of blue.
Encyclopedia of Cocktails
A fun gift idea to bring to a cocktail party, and the perfect addition to any home bar. At 576 pages, this one offers hundreds of recipes for cocktail-lovers.
Personalized Notecard Set
A personalized note card set is always thoughtful and is typically something you wouldn’t buy for yourself, making it a great gift to give. This set is customizable with different colors and fonts.
There are so many more items I could include on this list… these are just a few ideas but the possibilities are endless! I hope this was a helpful read.
Have a great week!
