Our Wedding Invitation Suite

I am so excited to share this post with you, as it’s one that has been in the works for quite some time! I could never have anticipated how much I would love the process of designing our wedding invitation suite. I feel so grateful to have been introduced to the team at Surcie, a sister-owned business specializing in wedding suites, bespoke stationery, and custom party favors. It was so much fun partnering with Mary and Taylor, sisters and co-owners of Surcie, who made our vision for our wedding invitations come to life!

Keep reading, as I’m sharing more about the process of designing our invitation suites in this post.

The first step was to choose an invitation suite design from Surcie’s well-curated collection. Choosing a suite provides the general design path for your wedding paper, and then you can personalize everything from there! You’ll see why choosing a suite was a difficult decision by navigating to their website – all 12 of their suites are absolutely beautiful, and I would have been equally happy with any of them.

I sought my mom’s feedback, and we ultimately both gravitated toward the Juliette invitation suite. Upon deciding this, there were additional things to consider, such as the printing style (Surcie offers flatprint, letterpress, thermography, and engraving), paper thickness, and whether we wanted white or ivory paper. For these decisions, we opted for flatprint printing, on an ivory, double-thick weight paper.

For the text color, we chose Bluebird. As you will see in our wedding photography, shades of blue were a common theme in our wedding color palette.

The part I loved the most was choosing the “bells and whistles” for the invitation suite, as Surcie refers to it – design details that allow you to really personalize your wedding invitations.

One design detail I really wanted to include on our wedding invitations was a custom crest or monogram. I had a few ideas in mind for this, and shared these with Mary and Taylor, who brought my vision to life with this beautiful custom crest!

The crest featured a simple single initial (representing Michael’s last name and my new last name), and incorporated the shades of blue we used in our wedding. If you’ve read my blog for a while you know I love hydrangeas, so it’s no surprise that this flower variety, along with white roses and peonies, were used throughout our entire wedding weekend. Therefore, I loved the idea of featuring hydrangeas in the crest as a way to represent our wedding weekend.

I was beyond thrilled with how it turned out, and am so excited to use our crest for stationary or cocktail napkins in the future!

The final decisions related to the envelope. We went with a beautiful envelope liner that paired perfectly with the crest design, suggested by Mary and Taylor. For the envelope addressing, we decided to go with the computer calligraphy option that Surcie offers, which matched perfectly with the font on our invitation suite.

Mary and Taylor found the most perfect vintage postage stamps to for the envelope!

Last but not least, Surcie designed an insert for our wedding Welcome Party, which we included in our invitation suites that were mailed to guests. We wanted our guests to receive the invitation for the Welcome Party alongside of the wedding invitation so that they would be able to plan ahead for travel. It worked out perfectly, and we loved how the paper color of the insert coordinated with the font color of our wedding invitations!

Overall, we couldn’t have been any happier with how our invitations turned out! We received so many compliments and had guests that reached out to us upon receiving their invitations to let us know how much they loved the design. They will truly be a keepsake piece and wonderful reminder of our special day.

I walked away from the process with a newfound love of beautiful paper products, and am already dreaming of an occasion to design more! The Surcie team was beyond amazing to work with… we had such a great experience with them that we ended up seeking their help with a custom koozie design, as well as custom cups, that were used for both our welcome party and wedding. I cannot wait to share those details with you soon!

Here are some examples of Surcie’s work for wedding paper and favors from their portfolio. I can only imagine all of the creativity and fun that went into designing these!

Feel free to leave any questions you may have about the process in the comments below, and have a wonderful week!
