Now that we are spending more time in our homes, it feels more important than ever that it is a place you love and want to be. I think that’s why I have been especially interested lately to finish decorating some of the spaces in my home that had previously been on the back burner. One of those spaces is the loft area in my home, which doubles as my home office.
On a normal basis, I do not work from home, but I do love having a space in my home with a desk for any time that I do have work that carries over from my full-time job, and also for blogging. While this space is not finished (is any room ever finished?!), it is coming along, and since a lot of you are now working from home, I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I love about it!
One of the things I love most about this space is the natural light it gets. Due to the location of this room, it gets sun throughout the entire day. When I purchased my home, I knew this would be a perfect place to have my desk, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the remainder of the space, as it is pretty large. One of my initial thoughts was to put a small sofa and TV in this room, which also would have been nice, but I decided that one main TV area downstairs was enough. I ended up adding a reading nook with two chairs and an accent table. I also added the garment rack, which is a fun piece that works perfectly for a blogging ‘office’. I love displaying my favorite seasonal pieces here!
These framed prints above my desk were all photos that I took around downtown Charleston. I had them printed using Shutterfly, and framed them to create a gallery wall.
I love having plants throughout my home. This one loves the sunny window it sits by! This planter was a find from a local garden store, Hyams, but I’ve linked similar ones above.
I’m so happy with how this nook turned out! I needed a large piece of art for this wall since it’s huge, and found this shadowbox palm art, which also comes in a black version. I love how neutral it is, and it fits in well with my coastal decor, but I have to warn you if you consider purchasing it – it is very heavy. Regardless, I do love it! I eventually want to switch out these pillows (these were on my sofa but are here temporarily), but I haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for yet.
This rug was a great find and is under $55! It comes in multiple colors and sizes. The accent table was a Target find, and I feel like it looks more expensive than it was!
To sum it up, this space is one where I want to spend a ton of time in, which is what every home office should feel like! I’ve linked many of the pieces shown here below. Thank you for reading!
